Kai Connect Cromwell exists to ensure that everyone in our community has access to good kai, shared with dignity and respect. Whether someone is going through a challenging time, feeling isolated, or simply looking for a welcoming place to belong, Kai Connect offers a warm and inclusive environment where people can come together around food, without judgement or expectation.

Food has a powerful way of breaking down barriers. Sitting side by side, helping to prepare a meal, sharing stories, and then sitting down together to eat can make a real difference, especially for those who may be feeling disconnected or under pressure from the rising cost of living. Kai Connect Cromwell is about reducing food insecurity while also nurturing connection, manaakitanga, and genuine care for one another.

What makes Kai Connect special is the shared experience. Community members are welcome to arrive early to help prepare the meal, learning new skills, contributing what they can, and being part of something meaningful. Once the food is ready, everyone comes together to sit down and enjoy the meal as equals. It’s not just about receiving kai, it’s about participation, contribution, and shared belonging.

Kai Connect Cromwell takes place every 3rd Wednesday of the month and is open to everyone in the community. You don’t need to meet any criteria or explain your circumstances, you are welcome just as you are. Whether you come to help cook, to share a meal, or simply to connect with others, your presence matters.
